The Wizard of OZ, 4 Munchkin Bios & Fun Movie Facts You’ll Be Sure to Love!

The Wizard of Oz is a 1939 classic film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and is an adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The film was primarily directed by Victor Fleming (who later left to take over another well-known classic film Gone with the Wind).

The movie stars Jack Haley (as the Tinman), Judy Garland (as Dorothy Gale), Ray Bolger (The Scarecrow), Bert Lahr (as the Cowardly Lion), Frank Morgan (as the Wizard), Billie Burke (Glinda, the Good Witch of the North) and Margaret Hamilton (as the Wicked Witch of the West).

The idea for today’s show came from an authentically autographed print we recently came across signed by 4 individuals who played the role of a munchkin in the classic movie. 3 of these folks were actual adult little people while the other was just a child portraying an adult munchkin. They are Donna Jean Stewart-Hardway, Mickey Carroll, Jerry Maren, and Karl Slover.

Today’s episode explores the biographies of these 4 individuals who played Munchkins which will surely provide you some information that you may not have known before. Our program ends with 6 fun movie facts that will leave you quite surprised and perhaps even shocked!

So, keep it right here as we take our own walk down the Yellow Brick Road - on this episode of History and Relics!
