For more than 80 years the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has stood as a holiday beacon for New Yorkers and visitors alike. While the lights, decorations, and stars have changed through the years, visiting the Tree remains a quintessential New York experience.
This year's Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a 74-foot Norway spruce from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It’s the first tree to hail from the state since 1959. The tree topper this year is a 900-pound Swarovski star designed by architect Daniel Liebeskind. The star itself is over 9 feet tall, has 70 spikes, and more than 3 million crystals lit up with LED lights.
The Top of the Rock’s three levels of indoor and outdoor observation decks deliver spectacular, unobstructed views of the city skyline. With terraces facing east, west, north, and south, Top of the Rock’s panoramic sights make it the ultimate observation deck in NYC. At the pinnacle of 30 Rockefeller Plaza’s 70 floors, it’s one of the best things to do in New York City.
